June 15, 2020 – Generosity is defined as the quality or act of being generous. Like muscles, generosity must be developed through practicing awareness of the needs of others around you. Once you are aware of a need, you then have a choice to act. Many associate generosities with giving away money yet there are many diverse ways to be generous:
- Give your time
- Be present to really listen to what someone has to say
- Remember someone’s birthday by leaving a card or small gift on their desk
- Hold the door open for someone
- Smile at everyone you meet
- Give someone a meaningful complement
- Pick up trash as you walk
- Call or text someone just to let them know you were thinking about them
- Offer to do something for someone that doesn’t benefit you
- Share your gratitude for others
- Donate blood
- Babysit someone’s kids so they can have a break
- When someone does something kind or generous for you, accept it with grace and thank them
